  4.  This section of Dark Portal II contains blurb (brief promotional text
  5. like that seen on the reverse or inside cover of paperbacks) inviting 
  6. you to read each of the stories in this edition. There's quite a mixed
  7. bunch this time I have to admit.
  8.  
  9.  A good proportion of the stories were written one or even two years 
  10. ago, which although means a lack of descriptive prose and accurate 
  11. spelling, does mean fast, atmospheric originality (hey, nice bit of 
  12. language manipulation there, mate - Mr.Dark.) In fact, whilst I'm near
  13. the subject, may I just ask that you please forgive me for any 
  14. spelling mistakes? Thanks. I'm not the worlds best speller by any
  15. means though I am improving.

  18. \ Why should I read any of it?
  19.  
  20.  I'm not pushing you to read anything my friend. Dark Portal 2 has 
  21. been entirely written by teenagers - the so-called "youth of today". 
  22. Don't you want to see how well they understand the world? Don't you 
  23. want to escape your boring, every-day life for a few hours and be 
  24. captivated by living nightmares and fantasies beyond your wildest 
  25. dreams? (or are you AFRAID you wimpy piece of SHIT?! - Mr.Dark).

  27.  If there is a meaning to this collection of stories, it's for you to 
  28. discover. Many of them are quietly linked, a good deal to the tales 
  29. found in Dark Portal I - this is a "Kingish" habit of mine, though not
  30. one I'm particularly afraid of admitting. Cross-referencing works of 
  31. fiction is a way of linking imaginary worlds together. And I like 
  32. that.

  34.  You can be sure that almost every story contains strong language and 
  35. a lot of sex and/or violence but I'm sure this doesn't put you off.

  38. \ Short Stories

  40. =The main collection of fiction in this edition of Dark Portal 
  41. =comprises of:

  44. WHITE RAVENS - A old but moving tale, initially written by two
  45. authors. A poorly child listens eagerly to his father's story about 
  46. how he met the woman he loves. I think this is a good introduction to
  47. the second edition of Dark Portal. Check it out!

  49. THE LOCKED DOOR - get ready to be completely captivated by one of the
  50. best stories Neale Grant has written so far! A thunderous night keeps 
  51. the customers away from a Scottish supermarket, but instead invites an
  52. intruder of the deadliest kind. With fantastic characters, brilliant 
  53. dialogue and a cinematique approach, "The Locked Door" will leave you 
  54. weak-kneed and drooling for more...
  55.  
  56. SCREAMING EXPRESS - Below the city, a demonic train carries creatures
  57. that feast on the young and innocent. Prepare yourself for the
  58. frightening story of a man who falls victim to one of these terrors...

  60. DIAL 666 - Somewhere behind the abandoned mills of Stone Bridge there
  61. waits an innocent-looking phone booth. Its cables are not connected to
  62. this world, but to another - Satan's world...

  64. A GOOD DAY AT SCHOOL - for two innocent children caught up in a rather
  65. dangerous classroom situation.

  67. ALIENATED HEAVEN - The tale of a man who attempts suicide after
  68. knocking down a child.  * This story is also featured in "The
  69. Quatermass Experiment" issue 2 *

  71. DEEPDAY - The weird but intriguing tale of a mother and child caught 
  72. in a bizzare and terrifying situation. If you fancy a bit of an 
  73. adventure with no bad language what-so-ever (eh? Get real! - Mr.Dark) 
  74. have a look at this. You might like it.

  76. THE SNOW GIRL - A trully chilling story (no pun intended) by Linette
  77. Voller - a lady whose stories always seem to have a wonderful twist -
  78. about a girl with no desire for friends. Short, scary - brilliant!

  80. PEEPS HITS THE BIG TIME - A failed novelist becomes involved with
  81. strange, mind-bending occurencies when his latest novel begins to
  82. alter reality. * This story appeared in "The Quatermass Experiment" 
  83. issue 1 but has been drastically re-written *

  87. \ Bestial Influx
  88.  
  89. BESTIAL INFLUX (Chapter 5) - Continued from the first installments
  90. found in Dark Portal edition one... Trapped in her own home with the
  91. fearsome monster, Linda manages to make contact with a team of crazy,
  92. ghost-hunting teenagers...

  94. BESTIAL INFLUX (Chapter 6) - After a chaotic battle with the most
  95. terrifying monster imaginable, Linda and the ghost-hunting survivors
  96. attempt to escape their prison. A nightmare encounter proves there is

  108. =Most definitely NOT for the squeamish. Dark Portal's most horrific 
  109. =and/or disturbing tales remain imprisoned here, twitching, screaming 
  110. =and gargling...

  112. GREEN MAN - an absolutely horrific, fast-moving story about a teenager
  113. who gets hit in the face by a brick. Insane, abstract, totally 
  114. horrible but in my humble opinion one of the best on the disk. Read it
  115. and be shocked! Congratulations go to Mr Dark!
  116.  
  117. JOB SATISFACTION - a tale that will really make you shudder. After a
  118. terrifying, seemingly mercilless start, the main character - an
  119. inexperienced teenage girl - turns around and becomes a vicious,
  120. satisfying avenger. If you're sick of work check this out. I accept no
  121. responsibility for causing massacres...

  123. TEN PERCENT DISCOUNT - my own rather light-hearted tale of an 
  124. infuriated check-out operator. `Check' it out for a laugh. (haha)

  126. BARN LANE - Warning: DO NOT READ THIS UNLESS YOU'VE GOT AN OPEN MIND.
  127. The disturbing tale of a young man's sexual experience whilst taking 
  128. an alternative route to work. Be prepared fellow heterosexuals, for a
  129. thought-prevoking ride down a dark lane of alternate reality...

  132. \ The War Against Society

  134. =In this exciting chapter of Dark Portal 2 you'll certainly never find
  135. =anything trivial. Deviants, runaways, suburban warriors... they're 
  136. =all here - come with me and lets take a look at the meaning of our
  137. =existence (if indeed there is one)...

  139. THE GLOWING RED MAN - a bored, unemployed teenager decides to take on 
  140. the world. Of course, it's not as easy as he thought - before long he 
  141. finds himself commiting acts of violence. (Part One of the story).

  158. activity and foul-mouthed teenagers. Based on truth.

  164. very short story of a girl lost in the depths of a thick fog bank.

  166. DEVIL IN THE TREE - non-believers will love this little tale of God
  167. and how unpleasant he could be for all we know. Like most tales in 
  168. Dark Portal, this one gives you fodder for thought...
